Duel of the Fates - John Williams

May the fourth be with you! It’s May 4th everybody and what does that mean? It’s Star Wars Day! A day dedicated to celebrating one of the most popular film franchises in the world. Star Wars and it’s sequels have affected us all, permeating through every aspect of pop culture and our lives. Star Wars helped us expand our imaginations to new heights, it brought Eastern philosophies to the mainstream, and it completely changed Hollywood as we know it. I remember when I was little when I saw Star Wars for the first time my eyes were glued to the screen and my mind was completely blown away! It wasn’t just a film, it was an experience that totally transported me to an entire new world of warrior monks and evil galactic emperors. What really impressed me about Star Wars was the amazing music composed by cinema legend, John Williams. His compositions for these movies were utter masterpieces, an epic movement that moves you, excites you, and transports you. After the iconic Main Theme and Imperial Attack, the song Duel of Fates from Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace has to be my favorite. Even though that movie was the weakest of the bunch, when this song played in the final fight scene it completely blew me away. Star Wars is a hallmark of American culture, it completely changed the landscape of cinema and introduced a brand new world pushing the limits of our imaginations to so many people all around the world.
