Place To Be - Nick Drake

I never had the skill nor the courage to tell someone how I felt about them, how much I was enamored with their heart, and how much I really cared for them. The only way I could express what I felt inside was through my writing. Even though I am open individual that is always willing to share my life with the world, I was never able to open my heart because I feared it would be broken once again. That is why I write, to express the things I’m afraid to say and to slowly overcome my fear of love and loss. I want to be able to finally tell someone I like them without that fear of rejection lingering around. I want to be as passionate and loving as in my writings because that is truly how I feel but I never knew how to express them beyond an online blog entry. I want to fully open my heart to someone I care for, reveal all of my vulnerabilities, and discover my strengths. I want to live in the moment without any preconceived notions or over-analyzed thinking. I just to be in the here and now with you and you only.

“I thought I’d see when day is done. Now I’m weaker than the palest blue. Oh so weak in this need for you.”

Light My Fire - The Doors

Music is sex. It turns on our dormant souls. It drives us wild with lustful passion. It is a connection to something greater than ourselves. Music is the fuel for the libidinous fire burning inside of us, our ultimate yearning to express ourselves in a way that speaks directly to the soul.

“Come on baby, light my fire.”

Let’s Stay Together - Al Green

They don’t make love songs like they used to. They used to be real, there was no emotional fluff like with the majority of music today. They dealt with the small things that make love grand such as the emotional highs and lows, holding someone’s hand, or a Saturday walk through the park. This is real music right here.

“‘cause you make me feel so brand-new, I want to spend my life with you.”

Sungaligali - Telegraph Avenue

It’s a travesty when amazing music collects piles of dust throughout the decades and is forgotten. Telegraphy Avenue and the only album they produce is such a band. Back in 1971 a Peruvian man by the name of Bo Ichikawa traveled to San Francisco and fell in love with the local hippie rock culture. After his six month stint in America, he returned to his native land and brought American rock with him. He then made a band, Telegraph Avenue, and decided to infuse South American latin groove with West Coast psychedelia. Unfortunately shortly after the band broke up and this remained the only album they would ever make. It’s such a shame because this album blew me away, but I’m glad I was introduced to it. It is never too late to start listening to amazing music.

Mercy Mercy Me (The Ecology) - Marvin Gaye

I want to have sweet sensual sex to Marvin Gaye’s What’s Going On album on vinyl. This is what all R&B should aspire be because this is a work of true art. This a masterpiece that will live on forever. Everything about is flawless, it is nine tracks of avant-garde perfection. An album that works as a whole, every track seamlessly transitioning into the other. The message of peace and love transcends it’s original political message against the Vietnam War back in the 70’s. It has become something wholly different from simply a protest album, it has become peace and love itself. Filling every room and every heart and soul with good vibes. That’s why I want to make sweet sensual love to this album, because it is the epitome of tender music making. A smooth jive that makes you groove unlike anything else. This one of the best albums ever made, don’t bother denying it’s magic.

“Ah, things ain’t what they used to be.”

I Got You Babe - Sonny & Cher

A letter written a long time ago:

When I first met you down in my gut I knew I had to be with you. I knew I had to embrace your being, to dig deep into your soul and see who you truly are. I couldn’t explain it nor fully articulate the feelings I had inside, all I knew is that our connection is unbreakable. Being around you is an instant of divinity stretched infinitely. I feel as though I’m immortal, as though I have a direct connection with the universe and I’m able to see all it’s beauty and be in true serenity. Babe, with you I live in the now, you thrust me into the beauty of the present moment. Around you the past nor the future is important, the only thing that is on my mind is that I got you babe till the end of universe and back again.

“I got you to hold my hand, I got you to understand. I got you to walk with me, I got you to talk with me. I got you to kiss goodnight, I got you to hold me tight. I got you, I won’t let go, I got you to love me so. I got you babe!”

You Make My Dreams - Hall & Oates

I don’t know exactly why, but today I woke up and I felt amazing. I walked outside, with sun shining, temperature nice and warm, and puffy white cloud sparsely scattered in the sky, and I felt like I was Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the dance scene in (500) Days of Summer. I was skipping along the streets of New York with a goofy smile plastered on my face, grooving to the music that was blasting on my headphones, smiling at all the random pedestrians and even giving a high-five to a stranger on the street. I don’t know what came over me, but all I know that it’s an awesome state of mind to be in. I need to start feeling this lively everyday!

“What I want, you’ve got.”
