Loonies To Blow - A-Trak

It’s Saturday night and I can’t wait to party. For tonight I’m listening to A-Trak’s DJ mix-tape Dirty South Dance 2 in order to pump me up for some partying in the jungles of New York. A-Trak really got it going, mixing hip-hop and house making it perfect music to get down and dirty to, hence the name of the mix-tape. Now I’m off to the city, later all!

“Yes I make mistakes that I don’t ever make excuses for
Leaving girls that love me and constantly seducing hoes
I’m losing my thoughts I say damn
Where my roof go?”

Good Soldier - Flobots

This is yet another amazing song by the political hip-hop artists. I absolutely love Flobots because of three reasons. First, they have politically charged lyrics, they talk about the injustices in this world and the real change (not Obama “change”) needed in today’s world. Second, they have a female and a male singer. The combination of the guy rapping with the smooth singing of the girl is just unbelievably unique and lovely. Third, they have violins! I love it when hip-hop incorporates violins, it’s just a beautiful fusion.

Fact is, there are good soldiers out there fighting in unjust wars. There are soldiers with families, with bright futures, with tons of potential, but yet they risk their lives every day a thousand miles away from home in order to fight a war that is completely unnecessary. I think that these people in the military are being wasted by having them risking their lives and being ordered to kill or so-called “defend themselves” for nothing! This War of Terrorism, is just an excuse for US to take control of profitable places in the Middle East. It’s all a power play in order to appease big business. Our good soldiers are now henchmen for hire, it’s a grand shame. To be a defender of this country is amazingly admirable job, but to all the soldiers out there in Iraq and Afghanistan you are being used and manipulated. There is no need for war in this world. You don’t have to be soldier in this world, because being a soldier in today’s world is not the same thing it represented years ago.

“And ripped away from family scraped into a politicians mistake
And what’s left of talents in chests beneath oceans
Welled up behind eyelids has yet to be salvaged
A world of emotions
A guess that it might be okay
That it could be all right if expressed today”
